The new program comes on the heels of the success of its previous My Hope films, “The Cross” released in 2013, and “Heaven” released in 2014.You can view the trailer here:“Our focus is on encouraging and equipping the local church to simply share Jesus,” said Steve Rhoads, vice president for My Hope. “We want to help local congregations by providing high-quality, free resources – like ‘Value of a Soul’ – anyone can use to reach out with a message of hope in their communities.”According to a BGEA news release, the official release date for the film is Oct. 15, as churches and individuals will be able to view the full program online and download it at that time.
A free DVD version of “Value of a Soul” will also be available online, with shipment expected in the early fall. Churches are encouraged to join with others across the nation in planning events using the film on a collective “day of proclamation” on Nov. 7 to coincide with Billy Graham’s 97th birthday.“Value of a Soul” takes a closer look at the question asked by Jesus and recorded in Mark 8:36-37: “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul?”In addition to an inspirational Gospel message from Billy Graham’s son, Franklin Graham, “Value of a Soul” features compelling and powerful stories of hope and faith from Purple Heart recipient and retired Army Maj. Scotty Smiley, who lost his vision from shrapnel in a car bomb explosion while serving in Iraq; Mark Outing, better known as a member of the hard-core underground rap group P.K.O.; and Laura Klock, who owns her own motorcycle shop and has had to cope with difficult issues in her life like having an abortion.“All three stories, and Franklin’s message in the film, address the underlying truth that each person – each soul – has value,” added Rhoads.
“We hope churches and individuals will begin praying and planning now for how God can use this film to reach out to neighbors, family and friends with a message of hope this November and beyond.”For more information on My Hope, including tips on how these free resources can be used, visit.
